3 Ways to Make Your Small Shop Look and Feel More Expansive

Gertrude Collins

Are you looking for ways to make your shop look and feel more expansive without doing any major renovations or moving to a new location? Here are three options that are sure to get the job done:

Install Some Skylights

A great way to make your shop look a little bigger and brighter is to install some skylights in the ceiling if possible. The skylights will provide your shop with some natural light, so you won't have to keep the artificial lights on as often, saving you some money on operations overall. If you just don't want to make an investment in skylights, you can always have a mural depicting the sky painted on the ceiling.

You won't get the natural light, but you will create the same basic look and feel for your shop. The skylights or mural will give your customers an illusion of being in a larger space, so either of them should help you get the results you are looking for.

Use Hanging Display Racks

You can clear some floor space to make your shop feel a little bigger by hanging products from the ceiling on hanging display racks. The hanging racks will provide you with room to display everything from clothes and bags to holiday decorations and local artwork so you don't have to store it on floor shelves. By reducing the amount of stuff you have to display on shelves, you should be able to remove one or more shelves altogether and make your shop feel roomier for customers while they are shopping.

Replace Your Front Door

One of the most effective ways to make your shop look and feel more expansive is to merge the outdoors with your interior shop. This can easily be done by replacing your front door with a commercial garage door.

While your shop is open for business, you can open the garage door up and transform the shop into an airy, bright, and comfortable place for your customers to shop. With the garage door open, you can actually extend your shop to the outside world by placing portable shelves and racks in front of your shop and filling them with sale and promotional items that will help attract passersby into your shop.

Your garage will help keep your shop safe from theft and vandalism outside of your regular business hours because commercial garage doors don't have any windows to break and can accommodate heavy-duty commercial locking systems. You can also put a mural or banner on the front of the garage door to promote your shop when you're closed.
